I know most slaves came into the colonies thru Charleston and the Mills where a prominent family there, maybe your white slave "owners" have a conection. I know many of my family members traveled out west in the mid-1800's and traveled with slaves. Charleston has a great new museum that is not only suppose to pay tribute to the Africans that came via its ports but also help those interested in tracing there roots. I wanted to let you know that I really liked the way your site is arrainged, and the way the photos "flip" over. More web sites could do with a look at this one. Just for the record, my Mills' are from Western Illinois, though I haven't been able to discover how or when (or even why) they came to be there. I do know they were already there by the 1910 census, and allied families long (Long!) before that. My Great GrandFather is as far back as I can go, and he was already in place by that date. (1910) By the by, my Mills' are white, and although family lore has it that we had some other blood, (Native American), nowhere have I heard of any African-American blood. Dosen't mean there isn't any... As we all know. (Who hasn't heard of the Jefferson's by now?!) Personaly, I am interested in truth, where ever it leads me. Anyway, congrats on a great website.
